Belize City Tour with Museum of Belize and Travellers Rum Museum for guests visiting the Old Capital of Belize on a Western Caribbean Cruise. Your tour of Belize City takes you around the Old Capital, see all the historic locations on both the north and the south side of Belize City, from Lindberg Landing, so named for Charles Lindberg who visited Belize in December 1927, to St. Johns Cathedral built from 1812 to 1820, the oldest church in Belize.
We visit 2 museums in Belize. The Travellers Rum Museum, one of the oldest manufacturers of spirits in Belize (learn the history of rum making and its roots in one of the longest running industries which still contributes to this day to our countries GDP, the sugar industry), Rum sampling and sampling of spirits manufactured by Travellers Liquors Ltd, available for only US1.00 for 2 shots.
From here we move to the Museum of Belize, located in what was formerly Her Majesties Prison built in 1857 and housed prisoners until 2002. Here we learn of the historical past of Belize, from Maya heritage to British Colonial history, to the attempted Spanish Colonial invasions that never succeeded.
